Carlyle House breaks ground on Renaissance

In a ceremony Monday morning, Carlyle House executives broke ground on the planned expansion of their Kettering assisted living complex, located at 3490 Far Hills Ave. “The public response to our commitment of care has been very gratifying,” said Bryan Nelson, executive director. “We all work very hard to earn everyone’s trust in the manner by which we conduct ourselves and the truth of the matter is we are simply out of room.”

The new building will be exclusively designed for residents dealing with memory loss. The two-story, 18,000 square foot structure will be built in much the same manner as the existing Carlyle House, with a focus on a residential lifestyle. There will not be any nurses’ stations to take away from the residential feel; such is the case in the existing building. The 30 suites have been designed with the same technology support and large lounges that aid in the programing for Alzheimer’s affected residents. Administrators say the new building will be fully secured and will have redundant security systems with the existing Carlyle House building. The new building will also face the 10,000 square foot arboretum and gardens. The enclosed and fully secured park area offers an abundance of flowers, walking paths and a peaceful vista for residents and families alike.

renderAs part of the Renaissance expansion, work has already begun on a series of sidewalks, bridges, dry river beds and park benches all supported by a fully landscaped design in order to create something unique for residents and family members alike. “We believe that it is important for us to offer something different in order to allow our residents the opportunity to experience a residential lifestyle,” added Nelson. “My grandmother lives here at the Carlyle House and has always enjoyed our walks in the arboretum and we saw an opportunity to expand on this lifestyle.”

The Carlyle House is locally owned and managed; the principle has been both a part of the neighborhood, as well as a respected senior housing executive for over 37 years.
