Bryan Nelson, Executive Director

Bryan Nelson is the Executive Director at the Carlyle House Assisted Living Community. He has 6 years of business to business experience and has been working for the family health care team at The Carlyle House for the past 3 years. His primary responsibility is seeing to the care of each and every resident while managing and fostering the growth and development of The Carlyle House staff. Bryan is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator through the state of Ohio. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from The College of Wooster and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Findlay.

Bryan’s passion for providing care for the elderly has grown since his younger years. His goal is to enhance and enrich the lives of each and every resident of The Carlyle House. Bryan has carried on in the family tradition with his belief that community and family are at the core of what we stand for and wants each and every resident to enjoy their senior years to the fullest extent possible. He plans on achieving his goals by maintaining the highest possible standards when delivering compassionate care to you and your loved ones.

Bryan currently resides in Springboro with his wife Emily and their three children, Adeline, Benjamin and Samuel. Bryan and Emily grew up in Kettering and are graduates of Fairmont High School.



Tracy Ball, Health Care Director

Tracy Ball began her career in nursing due to a profound interest in assisting seniors. She is currently the Health Care Director of The Carlyle House of Kettering and has been working in assisted living communities her entire career. While employed with a large community in this area she found a passion for working with the Alzheimers and Dementia residents. In 2006 she received the Salute to Nurses award by the Dayton Daily News for her dedication and providing excellent care to her residents. “ I have always been a great advocate for all of the seniors and families I’ve worked with. I truly believe we have so much to learn from our seniors”. Tracy was born and raised in Michigan. She moved to Ohio in 1996. She currently resides in Centerville with her fiancée. Her daughter has followed in her mothers footsteps and is attending nursing school herself. Her two sons are attending college one in Florida and the other in Ohio.


Paula Powers, Marketing Director

Paula Powers is the Marketing Director for The Carlyle House. Paula has been with The Carlyle House since before the doors opened, working closely with the Owner, Executive Director and Health Care Director to make our special vision of ,”a fresh new approach to senior living”’ a reality. She has vast experience and knowledge in senior care, working in both the Assisted Living and Home Care businesses. Her experience in Assisted Living includes Alzheimer’s Specialty Care. Paula’s desire is to help residents and their families with the difficult transition most families face when their loved one ages. Her favorite saying is,” I love nothing more than knowing I have made a difference in someone’s life. My goal is to enhance each and every resident’s life by giving them the opportunity to fulfill all aspects of their senior years with dignity and respect. I enjoy talking with seniors; they are so interesting and a talking history lesson.” Senior care is Paula’s passion.

Paula has been active in numerous charities and organizations including The Junior League of Dayton, American Cancer Society, Boonshoft Musuem, Kettering City Schools and the Alzheimer’s Association, to name a few and believes in giving back to the community.

Paula is a native Daytonian, raised in Oakwood and attended Oakwood High School and Hillsdale College. Paula currently lives in Kettering with her husband Tim and they have two sons, Grant and Nate.



Lynn McKinniss, Resident Events Director

Lynn is an experienced health care professional with over 20 years as Director of Activities in the long term care setting. She has also been an activity consultant at area nursing homes teaching others. For four years she served as the Director of Quality of Life for a local nursing home performing duties of Social Service designee, discharge planner, and overseeing the resident’s activities. Lynn received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University, Athens with a major in Physical Education. Her Masters of Education in Administration of Recreation was also granted at Ohio University, Athens. She completed additional training of the 90 hour Activity Professional Course.

Lynn has always been drawn to the work and involvement with the senior population. She believes that everyone deserves to be maintained at their individual highest level of functioning for their Quality of Life.

Lynn grew up on a farm in Adams County, Ohio and tries to stay close to her roots. She resides out in the country in Clayton with her husband, Michael. They have three grown children, Erin (Eduardo), Matt (Dana), and Stephen. They have been blessed thus far with two grandsons, Lucas and Owen. Besides enjoying family time she loves to garden, trying new recipes, and sewing.


Steve Sorg

Steve Sorg, Environmental Director

Steve Sorg is the Environmental Director at the Carlyle house. He has 13 years of environmental service experience in the assisted living industry. His main responsiblity is to maintain the integrity of the building and also life safety systems . Steve has almost completed his hvac certification. Steve’s philosophy is the little things do matter, He will stop and drop whatever he is doing to replace remote control batteries or fix anything that is not working for a resident. Steve grew up in West Carrollton, Ohio and now resides in Centerville with his wife Bambi and his son Wyatt and Step daughter Haley.
